We love traveling the world with our kids, but time and time again we get drawn back to Mexico. Of all the places we’ve visited, Mexico City is one of our favorite places to visit in Mexico with kids. Mexico City is a vibrant and exciting destination that has something to offer everyone, from its rich cultural heritage, delicious cuisine, and world-class shopping to its stunning architecture and bustling street life.

It’s a perfect blend of cultural and leisure activities for kids and adults, making it a great destination for families.

If you read our post about our trip to Mexico City with kids, you’ll discover that we didn’t love our Mexico City Airbnb. To save money, I got an Airbnb rental a few blocks outside the main tourist zone. It was a nice apartment, but it wasn’t exactly ideal. Although they were all very nice to the kids, we could have done without all the prostitutes who worked the street below.

We’re writing this post about the best Mexico City family hotels in hopes that you don’t make the same mistake we did.

Central Mexico City is even home to many luxury hotels that cater to families with kid-friendly amenities, poolside fun, and delicious room service. However, to make your family trip planning a little easier, we’ve compiled a list of the 10 best Mexico City family hotels selected based on prime locations, luxurious amenities, and activities for your kids!

So, sit back, relax, and discover the best places to stay in Mexico City with kids.

Best Family-Friendly Hotels in Mexico City

1. Sofitel Mexico City Reforma

Families traveling to Mexico City with young children can experience a luxurious and fun-filled stay at Sofitel Mexico City Reforma. This hotel is conveniently located near Bosque de Chapultepec – a beautiful, safe park we spent a lot of time in.

The main attraction in the park is the historic Chapultepec Castle (a real castle!! in Mexico!!) and offers a range of activities that are perfect for kids, making it one of the best kid-friendly hotels in Mexico City.

2. Hyatt Regency Mexico City

Experience comfort and luxury at Hyatt Regency Mexico City, a magnificent hotel with breathtaking views in the heart of the stylish Polanco neighborhood. The Hyatt Regency is just minutes away from the zoo within Chapultepec Park, one of the many reasons I think this hotel is perfect for families with small children.

Large families will be pleased to know that there are family rooms available with extra beds and cots upon request. Once you’re all settled in, whip out the kids’ floaties for a dip in the indoor pools, or play a round of tennis at the hotel’s state-of-the-art fitness facilities. The hotel has 24-hour security and CCTV to ensure you and your kids are safe while having fun.

Eat to your heart’s content at one of the three excellent restaurants showcasing the best Latin American-Asian fusion cuisine. Treat yourself to grilled meat and seafood at Teppan grill, relish the shabu-shabu at Yoshimi or enjoy the local delights at Rulfo. Whether you are looking for a delicious meal or a relaxing drink, this hotel is the place to be. Kids will particularly enjoy the fresh sandwiches and cakes at Amando, the hotel’s artisanal bakery.

The concierge butler service goes above and beyond to help you receive what you need; you can ask them to arrange excursions and activities such as walking tours. If you want a moment to breathe or explore the city (sans kids), ask about the hotel’s professional babysitting services. If you’re in town for an event, you can even request them to book you and your family a makeup artist!

3. Sheraton Maria Isabel Hotel & Towers

Clean rooms, sheer comfort, and excellent locations; the Sheraton Maria Isabel Hotel has got you covered if you are looking for a simple and practical experience. Located in the heart of the financial district, this hotel is central to everything. It’s a quick walk away from a host of shops, cafes, and restaurants, and right next to the US embassy.

Each room at the Sheraton is designed with comfort in mind, with clean, comfortable beds and well-equipped bathrooms. The hotel has plenty of interconnected rooms available if you want to share with your teens without infringing on their newfound independence.

Remember to bring your travel adapters, as the rooms don’t have universal plugs yet, but if you forget, don’t worry! Each room comes with a flat-screen TV to keep the kids entertained.

Enjoy Sheraton’s splendid breakfast spread that consists of eggs, bacon, sausage, fresh bakery items, and even a huge waffle station. It’s a huge hit with the kids! For those lazy or late mornings, the hotel also gives you the option of having a single a la carte breakfast item delivered to your room.

Looking for something to look forward to with the kids at the hotel? For about 150 pesos, you can watch the Mariachi performance that’s held at the hotel from Thursday to Sunday.

It offers luxurious suites with modern decor, city views, and top-notch amenities such as free wifi, an indoor pool, and fitness and spa centers.

Our kids loved exploring Alameda Central.

Whether you fancy a sightseeing tour or a hot air balloon ride, the concierge is always eager to help you plan a great day with your kids by suggesting some of the best excursions around Mexico City. Another way the Le Meridien hotel takes care of its families is with family rooms and extra beds and cribs on request.

New moms can feel comfortable asking for room service for milk and diapers, and the older kids will enjoy the complimentary Lego welcome gift. Guests are also welcome to request puzzles or board games for keeping the kids entertained during the evening time.

The hotel’s fun and colorful restaurant, La Gloriosa, is an excellent opportunity to introduce kids to the flavors and spices of Mexican gastronomy. But for picky children, each room comes with mini fridges and a microwave to heat up some on-the-go meals or satisfy late-night munchies. Rooms also have coffee machines to support parents throughout their trip!

5. Camino Real Polanco México

Camino Real Polanco boasts some of the best architecture by combining modern designs with pre-hispanic pyramid impressions to give guests a vintage vibe. If you opt for the garden view, you’ll wake up to the lush greenery of the hotel’s well-maintained garden which you can visit for an evening stroll.

For parents, the hotel has a golf course as well as spa and massage facilities. There are also babysitting services available. Families can relax while lounging around the pool or rent a bike and head to the nearby Chapultepec park!

My kids LOVE breakfast buffets at the hotel!!

The food at each of Camino Real Polanco’s ten restaurants is phenomenal, but we recommend eating at Centro Castellano the most for its Spanish inn atmosphere and kid’s menu. There are also plenty of noteworthy restaurants near the restaurant as well, such as El Fogoncito.

Located right behind the hotel, it’s the perfect spot for some traditional tacos and quesadillas. Families will enjoy strolling the area and exploring the various cafes and ice cream parlors for dessert afterward.

6. Zócalo Central

The Zocalo Central Hotel is located in the heart of Mexico City’s Historical Center, offering a unique opportunity for families to immerse themselves in the city’s rich cultural heritage. The hotel is opposite the Metropolitan Cathedral and the National Palace, just a few steps away from the Templo Mayor, the National Museum of Art, and the Palace of Fine Arts, among many other important historical and cultural sites.

The rooms and suites at Zocalo Central have been refurbished to provide guests with modern décor, a flat-screen TV, a work desk, and a spacious private bathroom with free toiletries. The hotel offers expert babysitting services for families with young children so adults can exercise in the hotel’s state-of-the-art gym or take a quick stroll at the nearby Alameda Park.

Apart from the family-oriented services, families will also love the excellent service provided at the hotel’s various restaurants. Head to the rooftop Balcón del Zócalo to enjoy stunning views of the Historical Center while wining and dining on gourmet Mexican dinners, signature mixology, and national wines.

Tours of Mexico’s most emblematic destinations and experiences are also available for an additional cost. These include visits to the Basilica of Guadalupe, the Pyramids of Teotihuacán, the Sanctuary of the Monarch Butterfly, trips to the Magical Towns of Taxco and Real del Monte, and more. The hotel also has facilities for disabled guests which include wheelchair ramps and security present at every juncture.

Family Can Travel Tip: After our week in Mexico City with kids, we spent a week in nearby Valle de Bravo with kids. A mountainous lake resort, Valle de Bravo is a popular getaway for people living in Mexico City. The highlight for us was visiting the monarch butterfly sanctuary, where we saw millions of butterflies at the end of their migration from Canada – simply incredible!

7. Intercontinental Presidente Mexico City

Located in the Polanco region near the 1600-acre Chapultepec park is Intercontinental Presidente Mexico City! The luxury hotel offers stunning views and has six restaurants and bars with various cuisines from Mexico, France, Italy, and China.

However, what we recommend is a meal at the Chapulin Restaurant for a classy and authentic Mexican dining experience. Furthermore, the breakfast spread here is incredibly varied and filled with many popular all-American foods such as typical bacon, eggs, and hashbrown. This will be a welcome option for families with picky eaters!

Families will enjoy visiting the nearby park and spending a day at Chapultepec Zoo, which are both exciting things to do with young children. Back at the hotel, there’s free high-speed WiFi as well as plenty of walking tours that the concierge can arrange for your family’s entertainment.

Between a wide range of activities, world-class amenities, and its close proximity to famous attractions such as the Chapultepec Castle and Angel of independence, it’s no surprise that it’s one of the best kid-friendly hotels in Mexico City.

The hotel offers a state-of-the-art gym for parents who want to keep fit, as well as an on-site spa for those who want to indulge in a little pampering. After a long day of activities, families can enjoy a delicious meal at the hotel’s international Cafe Reforma, which offers all-you-can-eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffets. With its luxurious amenities, convenient location, and range of activities for families with young children, the Fiesta Americana Reforma is the perfect choice for a family vacation in Mexico City.

10. Galeria Plaza Reforma Mexico City

This 4-star hotel is a fantastic choice for families seeking comfort and luxury in the heart of the vibrant city. Families will get to enjoy breathtaking views of the Zona Rosa from the rooftop terrace at the Galeria Plaza Reforma Hotel and take a dip in the rooftop pool for a refreshing swim. The hotel’s spacious and well-appointed rooms provide a warm and inviting atmosphere for families to call home during their stay.

The Almara Restaurant at the hotel offers a unique dining experience with its signature “Mex-ranean” cuisine, blending the flavors of Mexico and the Mediterranean. It’s a must-try for families looking to sample local and international dishes in a chic and sophisticated setting.

For young children, the rooftop pool is a great place to play as it is very shallow (only 2 feet deep). Kids can have the time of their lives, while you rest easy. There are also babysitting services available if needed.

As you can see, we loved our family trip to Mexico City. This incredible capital city is a must-visit location for everyone visiting Mexico because of its storied cultural past, lively streets, and top-notch food and shopping. I hope that one of these great kid-friendly Mexico City hotels helps make your trip extra special.
