Seventeen years ago, Celine and I visited Belize as part of a trip through Central America. On that trip we visited Caye Caulker and loved it, so on our return visit to Belize we wanted to try visiting Ambergris Caye with kids. We had a great time on our three day family trip to Ambergris Caye, although it was arguably one day too long.

3 Days in Bocas del Toro with Kids
Two of our favorite family vacations of all time were to Costa Rica with kids and a family trip to Colombia. As Panama is sandwiched in-between these two countries, we knew we had to take a family vacation to Panama. Visiting Panama City was a must, but we also wanted some quality time on a Caribbean beach too, so we planned a visit to Bocas del Toro with kids.

To be honest, we didn’t know much about Panama or Panama City when we first kicked around the idea of coming here. We had previously really enjoyed a family trip to Costa Rica, and a separate trip to Colombia with kids, so given Panama is right in the middle of these two amazing countries, we figured we’d love it too!
It didn’t take us very long to figure out we were going to love visiting Panama City with kids! We’re generally not big into cities, but Panama City is one of the few mega-cities on Earth with a thriving national park right next door.
