I loved hiking as a kid! Hiking with my family was filled with endless adventures and discoveries. I remember great laughs and lots of hiking songs. It seemed like my Mom knew all the hiking songs to sing in the whole world and I loved singing them all.
Traveling with kids can be expensive. Planning a family vacation means you need to buy additional flight tickets, attraction passes, meals and find larger hotel rooms – it all adds up in a hurry!
When our kids were 6 and 4 years old, they hiked up to the Lost City in Colombia. Our kids hiked to the Lost City all on their own without being carried (aside from the odd moments where we carried them over rocks or down a steep section).
Hiking has long been a passion for us and one we knew wouldn’t go away when we had kids. Especially when we travel, we find hiking to be one of the best ways to get away from the crowds and experience the region in a completely different way.
Getting out on a stand up paddle board or kayak with kids is an incredibly fun way to get out on the water and enjoy your surroundings in a completely different way!
