If you are looking for an easy hike which has tons of epic scenery with very little effort required, try the Riverside Walk. Zion National Park is really showing off in this part of the national park.
The Weeping Rock Trail is a fun and easy Zion National Park hike. With a chance to get wet and also see beautiful wildflowers in one of Zion’s hanging gardens, this trail offers something for everyone in the family.
The Grotto Trail is a super-short, flat and easy hike in Zion Canyon National Park. This scenic walk follows along the base of a canyon wall between shuttle stop 6 (The Grotto) to shuttle stop 5 (The Zion Lodge). The Grotto Trail is also one of the best places in Zion Canyon to see wildlife, due to the flat, open, riverside forest opposite the canyon wall.
Those looking for easy Zion Canyon National Park hikes should look no further than the Pa’rus Trail. This flat, paved path begins at the Zion National Park Visitor Center and ends at Canyon Junction (shuttle stop #3).
The Northgate Peaks Trail is a perfect choice to escape the crowds and the hot Zion Canyon National Park weather. Located northwest of the main Zion park area, this easy hike is a pleasant stroll through a mature Ponderosa Pine forest, paying off with great views of the Northgate Peaks and the Zion Canyon in the distance.
The Watchman Trail is one of those great family-friendly Zion National Park hikes providing some amazing views of Zion Canyon without a tremendous amount of work. The trail follows along the side of a small canyon on the east side of the park. The trail is mostly in the open which results in increasingly impressive views the higher you get.
We visited Capitol Reef National Park with kids in early-May (our two kids were 5 & 3 years old at the time). We must admit that prior to deciding to go on a family road trip to Utah, we had never heard of Capitol Reef NP. We were well aware of Utah’s other four super-star national parks, so we were intrigued to find out they had a fifth.
Chimney Rock is an impressive, towering natural spire which rises over 300 feet above the road. The Chimney Rock Loop takes you to the top of a mesa and allows hikers a view looking down on Chimney Rock as well as the amazing scenery up and down the valley. It’s an amazing hike which reminded us a lot of the Fairyland Loop in Bryce Canyon (one of our favorite hikes in Utah).
Hickman Bridge is one of the most popular hikes in Capitol Reef National Park and is a good introduction to the park. This easy, scenic hike begins by following the Fremont River before starting to climb along the side of a large hill. The views of the surrounding cliffs and valley get amazing pretty quickly.
We visited Bryce Canyon National Park with kids in mid-April (our two kids were aged 3 & 5 at the time). Our family loves being active while enjoying the beauty of nature, so Bryce Canyon was a perfect outdoor destination for us. We spent 5 days hiking with kids and enjoying all the beauty this natural wonder has to offer.
